Jurai Andō (安藤 寿来 Andō Jurai) also known as July Andou in English variation, is the main protagonist of Inō Battle wa Nichijō-kei no Naka de. He is a patient of chūnibyō[6] that is part of the Literature Club at Senkō Private High School. His ability called "Dark and Dark", allows him to manipulate a dark flame from his right hand, although it's useless most of the time. He gains an evolved version of his Dark and Dark, called "Dark and Dark of the End".

Appearance[]

Andō is an eccentric tall young man. He has unruly black hair and his eye color is teal (blue-green). His usual clothing is his school uniform, red coat, white shirt, blue tie, white pants and light brown shoes. He sometimes pulls up the sleeve of his clothing on his right arm to the elbow whenever he uses his ability.

Personality[]

Jurai Andou

Andō is a edgy, energetic boy, with a bad case of chūnibyō or NPD[7]. Despite this, he is actually fairly good at academics, and gets decent marks in his classes. Still, Andō is not very observant, and is completely oblivious to some of the feelings the female members of the club have for him.

Later on, it is revealed that he was inspired to continue his delusional lifestyle in middle school by a certain silver-haired girl with glasses, which was later revealed to be Tomoyo.

Because of this, he has developed a very carefree personality that can often accept other peoples faults without much trouble. When he gained his superpower, he was excited, saying and even though it didn't do much, he still loved it all the same, because every guy wants one. Though, he does get depressed when others point out how useless his power is.

Andō also seems to be oblivious and dim to romance, due to the implied romantic feelings that Kushikawa Hatoko and Kanzaki Tomoyo have towards him in the series.

Also, Andō is caring, kind and generally understanding of situations, making the girls in the club being attracted to him, even Mirei and Madoka, and he always tries to pep up his friends, whenever they are sad.

History[]

Childhood[]

Jurai was the second child of the Andō family. He was given this name because he was born in July. He had an older sister named Machi and was friends with Hatoko Kushikawa since they were very young. His family had been on good terms with the Kushikawa family for a long time, even going on trips together each year. Their parents even sent Jurai and Hatoko to the same kindergarten.

During primary school, Hatoko was called “Yakitori” by other kids because of her surname “Kushikawa”, something she greatly disliked. However, Jurai said that was a lame nickname and said “Fire Phoenix” was better. The other kids laughed and said that name was even lamer and decided to keep calling her Hatoko.

Another time, Hatoko set the fire alarm on because of a comedy sketch she saw on tv. She hid under the stairs, but Jurai found her and said he would apologize with her to the teachers. Jurai gave her his hand and she said it was warm. Over the years, Jurai was always recommending manga and novels to Hatoko, but she couldn’t understand them.

Middle School and a Certain Incident[]

Before starting their second year at middle school, Jurai had decided that he would stop being a chūni if Hatoko didn’t understand the latest novel he had lent her. As expected, she didn’t, so he didn’t recommend her anything again and decided to stop being a chūni.

In his first day, Jurai was bullied in a nearby park by some students lead by someone called Zenya Aragaki. He knew about Jurai’s past chūni antics and was making fun of him. At that moment, a guy passing by said “¡That’s wrong!”. Zenya believed that guy was trying to save Jurai, but that person explained he was only repeating the Danganronpa catchphrase. This person’s name was Shizumu Sagami. Zenya got angered by Shizumu’s behavior, so he tried to harass both Jurai and him, but then, a girl came running to save her boyfriend. This girl was Shizumu’s girlfriend, Tamaki Futaba.

After making the bullies flee, she apologized to Jurai and became friends with him. The three of them, alongside Hatoko, became really close, often spending time together after school. They went to an arcade once. Jurai tried to get a teddy bear for Hatoko, but ended up spending a lot of money to get one in a claw game machine. Hatoko thanked him and said she would cherish it.

Jurai's friends in middle school

Then, a sleepy-looking lady and a little girl with blonde hair came to thank him for putting so much money in the game machine. Because of Jurai moving the claw so much, they were able to get a squirrel stuffed animal which was left in an easy position to grab. Jurai just told the little girl to take care of that doll since it cost him a month's allowance.

The four of them also went to a summer festival together and had a lot of fun. Jurai thought of his new friends as the ideal couple. However, this didn’t last forever.

One day, Tamaki asked Jurai out to the movies, where she acted in a flirtatious way and teased him about them looking like a couple, but Jurai wasn't okay with the situation because he felt he was betraying Shizumu. However, Tamaki reassured him that she was just joking and only wanted his help in getting a present for Shizumu because his birthday was coming. Jurai then calmed down and agreed to go. Tamaki told him she wanted to get a specific film frame that the cinema was giving away as a special bonus to those who came to see a movie.

After the movie ended, Jurai opened the gift bag and took out the film frame which was inside. Jurai felt he was unlucky and apologized because the frame had an unpopular character on it. However, Tamaki told him that character was Shizumu's favorite one. She happily hugged Jurai, who hugged her back reflexively, but then, he just kept hugging her. The reason was because Jurai didn't want to let Tamaki see the scene in front of them. There was Shizumu with another girl, who had come to see the movie too. After making sure they had left, Jurai let Tamaki go. She asked him why he did that, but Jurai just answered that Tamaki was so cute that he couldn´t hold back, making her blush.

The day of Shizumu's birthday arrived and Tamaki sent Jurai an email telling him about how happy Shizumu was with his gift and how grateful she was to Jurai for his help, wishing for him to get a good girlfriend one day. Jurai was just happy things turned out to be fine.

One rainy day, Tamaki appeared in front of Jurai's home completely wet and looking very depressed. Jurai invited her in and gave her a change of clothes after letting her take a shower. When he asked her about what was wrong with her, she mentioned Sagami had dumped her for another girl. Incidentally, Jurai remembered aloud the incident at the movies. This made Tamaki start bombarding him with questions about the other girl. Jurai revealed he saw Sagami and that girl together and apologized for not telling her about it.

After some silence, Tamaki talked about her family situation. She told him about how her mother was involved with many men and how she didn't know who her real father was. She said they were abusing her physically, this being the reason for her conservative look in clothing. Tamaki began to cry wondering why only bad things happened to her, so Jurai tried to comfort her. Tamaki thanked him and hugged him, so Jurai reflexively hugged her back. She asked him if he found her cute, to which Jurai said yes and then, Tamaki asked if he liked her, to which Jurai said yes again. Tamaki said she was happy and closed her eyes, bringing her lips closer to his, which made Jurai realize the only way to save Tamaki was by loving her. However, at that moment, he heard Shizumu's voice. He said what Jurai was feeling wasn't love, but pity.

Seeing Shizumu there, Tamaki quickly pushed Jurai away. Shizumu’s eyes were very cold and indifferent to Tamaki, who could only apologize and ask for his forgiveness, repeating that she only liked Shizumu. He didn't pay attention to her words and told Jurai that now he should understand what kind of woman Tamaki was. She was just a frivolous woman who opened her heart and her legs to any man who treated her like a princess. When Shizumu was about to leave, Tamaki caught him by the hand, desperately asking him in tears to wait. However, Shizumu coldly said that he hated her. Also, he told her to keep all the gifts he gave her because he didn't want anything touched by her filthy hands. Shizumu left the house and Tamaki fell on her knees crying. Not knowing what to say to her, Jurai quickly rushed outside to catch up with Shizumu.

When Jurai pressed Shizumu to explain himself, he explained the reason behind their break up. Shizumu had seen an email in Tamaki’s cellphone that proved that she was cheating on him with a guy named Zenya Aragaki. It looked like she had had a date with that man. Jurai didn't want to believe it at first, but soon realized that it was true due to Tamaki's earlier behavior.

Jurai tried for the last time to convince Shizumu to star things over with Tamaki, believing that they still could patch things up, but to no avail. Shizumu told him that was just wishful thinking and he couldn't bring himself to like Tamaki again because she had cheated on him. Jurai tried to argue that Tamaki only had a date with that other man and something like that could not be called cheating, but Shizumu angrily told him not to underestimate the word “virgin”. A virgin was not only pure in body, but also in mind. Jurai angrily shouted back, saying that Shizumu was in no position to say such nonsense because he was at fault too. However, Shizumu said he had the right to say all that because he was a reader. He explained that a reader was an egocentric, selfish and irresponsible existence, a being that didn't have any obligation and had the right to choose.

Jurai finally understood that Shizumu and Tamaki's relationship was over from the start. It was destined to fail from the exact moment they started dating. A girl who only was in love with the idea of being in love and a boy who rejected love because he only saw it as part of entertainment. There was no doubt that such a relationship was going to end in a decisive rupture. The realization of this harsh reality greatly affected Jurai's mind, leading him to a very depressed state. When Jurai returned home, Tamaki was gone and she didn’t answer his calls again.

Crying under the rain

A depressed Jurai went to Hatoko’s house, but there was no one at home, so he waited outside her house under the rain. When Hatoko returned from her club activities, she found Jurai completely wet and used her umbrella to cover him from the rain. He told her that Tamaki and Shizumu had broken up. Jurai had gotten involved in their cheating mess and felt betrayed by them because he saw the kind of persons they actually were. Hatoko hugged him and consoled him. She said she would never betray him and promised to give her best to understand him. Jurai felt Hatoko was the one who saved his heart from breaking completely that day.

Two months later, Jurai felt his life was empty. Wanting to turn the page, he decided to clean his room and dispose of all his manga, games and novels. After getting rid of some boxes, Jurai went to Tamaki’s house- He met her grandparents and found out she had moved. Tamaki’s parents had divorced, so she ended up in her mother’s custody. Jurai also found out Tamaki’s story about her being abused by her parents was just a big lie.

A destined meeting

In his way home, Jurai met a certain silver-haired girl in the park, who was trying to fix a bicycle. Jurai helped her to fix the bicycle and noticed the girl was a chūni. He told her she better stopped acting like that, because she would regret it in the future. Jurai said fiction was fake and would end up betraying her one day, leaving the girl with her eyes down. When Jurai was leaving, the girl hit him on her bicycle, shouting “Climax Blade White”. Jurai asked her what was her problem, so the girl told him not to act so conceited because he was still just a child. She said fiction was real and was inside oneself. Besides, she said fiction would never betray him, and if he felt betrayed by it, that was only because he thought so.

Jurai asked the girl for her name. However, she said her name was forbidden. Then, she asked Jurai for his name, but he said he still hadn’t thought in one. However, he promised to think the best name ever. Thanks to this destined meeting, Jurai found his answer and decided to continue being a chūni.

In his third year at middle school, Jurai contacted Shizumu again and asked him to meet him. Jurai punched Shizumu and then asked him to punch him back, but Shizumu kicked him instead, mentioning he didn’t want to hurt the hands he used to hold his girlfriend. Jurai said he hated Shizumu’s behavior, but at the same time, he didn’t want to cut ties with him. Jurai proposed to stop being friends and return to being just acquaintances, to which Shizumu agreed. Later, Jurai told Hatoko his new name was “Guiltia Sin Jurai”.

High School and the Literature Club[]

Aggh! My right hand is..!

One year later, Jurai, Hatoko and Shizumu entered Senkō Private High School. In his first year, Jurai joined the literature club alongside Hatoko. They met Sayumi Takanashi and Tomoyo Kanzaki. Later, their club advisor, Shiharu Satomi, asked them to take care of her little niece, Chifuyu Himeki. The little girl eventually became a club’s member as well. The five of them became great friends and spent their days having fun in the literature club. A certain day, Jurai and the others were in the literature club as usual, and suddenly, they were enveloped in a bright light and awakened superpowers. Jurai gained the ability to summon a black flame in his right hand, but it was a useless lukewarm flame. Jurai named it “Dark and Dark”. He also gave names to the powers of the others. They were expecting something big to happen, but in the end, nothing happened, so Jurai and the others decided to spend their time using their powers to have fun.

Six months later, Jurai was pretending to lose control of the power on his right hand, but Tomoyo just told him to drop the charade because none was going to believe him when it’s real, after all, they were already part of that world now. Still, he tried to do the same act with the other girls, but only Hatoko took it seriously, while Sayumi and Chifuyu didn’t care at all. On their way home, Jurai and the others found a bloody and injured black cat, so Chifuyu asked Sayumi to heal the cat’s wounds. However, she was doubtful about healing a being so close to death, so Jurai told her it was okay to do it.

Meeting Hajime Kiryū

One day, Jurai found out Tomoyo was a closet chūni because he saw her doing poses and saying cool lines in front of a mirror, much to her embarrassment. Jurai was happy he had finally found a comrade, but Tomoyo was strongly opposed to this. During club activities, Jurai was writing nicknames in his Bloody Bible. Tomoyo called it his dark history notebook, but Jurai strongly denied this. Then, she made him notice he had misspelled “Bible” as “Vivre” on the cover. It turned out Sayumi had made him a prank by teaching him to write the word incorrectly. Later, the club decided to create nicknames for everyone. Each member created some examples and Jurai was reviewing them. However, the one who impressed Jurai the most was Tomoyo’s nickname, Endless Paradox, much to her annoyance. On his way home, Jurai noticed he had left his Bloody Bible in the club classroom and went back to get it. Once he arrived, Jurai found someone with the notebook on his hands. This person was Hajime Kiryū, who praised Jurai for his good taste in naming, much to Jurai’s surprise. Hajime introduced himself as Kiryū Heldkaiser Luci First and showed Jurai his own black notebook called “Reverse Cross Record”. Both of them were pleased to find someone so similar to themselves. Jurai was also surprised to find out Hajime was a former student of Senko High School and an ex-member of the literature club.

Later, Jurai and Hajime went to a nearby family restaurant. They started talking about chūni names, but at that moment, Hajime received a call. Jurai heard the name Reatier and something about a war, a committee and the power of God. When the call was over, Hajime just told him it was from his part time job. Then, they talked about the meaning of chūnibyo. Jurai believed it was about not lying to oneself. However, Hajime said a chūni was someone who wished to be accepted by someone else, but at the same time, they wished to be someone else. Hajime described it as an endless paradox. Jurai recognized those words, and then Tomoyo appeared. It was revealed that Hajime was Tomoyo’s brother. She asked him to come back home, but Hajime rejected the offer and then proceeded to leave, not before reminding Tomoyo to tell their father not to forget to send him this month’s allowance. Before leaving, he told Jurai they would definitely meet each other again in the future. After he left, Tomoyo told Jurai that Hajime was her older half-brother, who had left home a year ago. Also, he was the one who came up with the “Endless Paradox” nickname. Then, Jurai told Tomoyo that Hajime had left without leaving money to pay his part of the bill. Tomoyo could only apologize.

Next day, Jurai wanted a black dragon in his arm, but he couldn’t draw it well. Hatoko tried to help, but her dragon didn’t match Jurai’s taste. So Tomoyo drew one similar to Hiei’s, which greatly pleased Jurai. Then, he tried to summon a black dragon with his black flame, although without much results. Hatoko tried the same and she summoned a splendid flame dragon using her power. Jurai felt this was a complete defeat for him.

One day, the literature club took turns to write a novel. The girls wrote a romance novel about a boy with broken dreams and a girl with an illness, but Jurai ended up turning the whole story into a chūni story with superpowers. Then, while Jurai was thinking about Hajime, Sayumi noticed he had the expression of someone in love. Jurai tried to deny this, but Sayumi told him it was okay to be in love with a man. Jurai realized she was right, but then an annoyed Tomoyo told them to stop using her brother as joke material. Once the club activities were done, Jurai put his things in his bag and went home. At night, Jurai found two black notebooks in his school bag. One was his Bloody Bible and the other was a familiar notebook. He thought it was Hajime’s Reverse Cross Record, but it turned out it was Tomoyo’s idea notebook.

Next day, Jurai went to see Tomoyo before class. She admitted she wanted to be a light novel author and was trying to submit a novel for a new author award. Tomoyo thought he would laugh at her, but Jurai said he wouldn’t do that because she was his friend. Tomoyo asked if he was going to cheer for her, but Jurai said he wasn’t. He felt it was insensitive from his part to just cheer for her when she was following such an insecure path. However, if she wanted someone to read her work and give her opinions, then he could do it anytime. Tomoyo was happy to hear this and asked him to keep this a secret from the others for now.

During club activities, they were visited by the student council president, Mirei Kudō. Due to Jurai’s chūni fantasies about Mirei spying them, Mirei ended up saying he was right and revealing that she had a power as well. Then, Mirei challenged the club to a superpower battle, using her own ability to steal Jurai's "Dark and Dark", only to find it to be useless. With the other members knowing not to show off their powers before her, Sayumi easily subdued Mirei in a physical match. Learning that Mirei had found out about their powers from an anonymous message, the group became curious about just who sent it.

Awakening a new power!

Next day, while trying to open a bag of potato chips, Jurai awakened the next stage of his power, “Dark and Dark of the End”. However, the black flames became inextinguishable and made Jurai feel a lot of pain. Hatoko tried to help, freezing his arm, but to not avail. In the end, Sayumi cut his arm with a guillotine created by Chifuyu and sealed the burning arm in a separate dimension created by Chifuyu as well. The girls made Jurai promise to never use that power again.

Mirei’s Misunderstanding[]

One day, Jurai was in the teacher’s room. He was being scolded by Satomi-sensei because he had used difficult kanji in his english exam, but his answers were pretty much correct, much to her chagrin. Then, Shizumu Sagami entered the room to get his Nintendo 3ds back, because it was confiscated during class. Shizumu and Jurai started arguing, calling each other a pervert and a chūni respectively, to which Satomi-sensei remarked that they got along as well as ever. However, they both strongly denied it and continued to argue. In the end, Satomi-sensei just kicked them out. Outside, Jurai mentioned Satomi-sensei would be more popular is she acted more like anime teachers. However, Shizumu said he wasn’t interested in female characters over 20 years old. Therefore, Satomi-sensei opened the door and scolded them again. Once she was over with Jurai, he was free to leave. Then, he met Sayumi, who came to see Satomi-sensei, but Jurai said she was busy scolding Shizumu. Sayumi smiled weirdly and remarked Shizumu and Jurai got along really well. However, Jurai said they weren’t like that.

During club activities, the literature club had their monthly check-up to test their abilities. Hatoko faced against Chifuyu, while Jurai and Tomoyo were observing. Before the battle escalated any further, Tomoyo used her “Closed Clock” to stop their movements. Once the battle was over, Sayumi used her “Root of Origin” to clean their uniforms. Then, Jurai joked about activating “Dark and Dark of the End” again, but everyone got serious and told him not to do it ever again. After that, they were visited by Mirei Kudō again. This time, she had come to tell Jurai she accepted to be his girlfriend, leaving everyone speechless. It turned out that Mirei had received a letter from Jurai about the name he gave to her power. She had misunderstood this letter as a love letter because she had misread “Grateful Robber” as “Grateful Lover”. The girls wanted Jurai to clear the misunderstanding, but he didn’t know how. Believing they were a couple, Mirei started acting as a clingy girlfriend, much to the girls’ displeasure. Then, she asked Jurai to just call her “Mirei” and she started calling him “Darling”.

Next day, Jurai was discussing with Shizumu about Mirei during lunch. Shizumu didn’t see the problem about dating her, but Jurai wasn’t sure because it was a fake relationship. After class, Mirei accompanied him to the literature club and warned him not to cheat on her with any of the girls. In the club, Jurai noticed the girls were ignoring him. Sayumi proposed to think a way to explain the misunderstanding, but Jurai said he was going to do it alone. After club activities, Jurai waited for Mirei and cleared the misunderstanding. He apologized to Mirei, but she told him not to worry about and left with tears in her eyes. Jurai felt terrible, but couldn’t do anything about it. Tomoyo came to cheer up Jurai during his moment of guilt and he explained he had chosen that particular name for Mirei's power so it would match the others and show that she was one of their friends now. At night, Jurai received an e-mail from Mirei apologizing for the misunderstanding and accepting the name he had given to her power. Also, it was revealed that Jurai originally meant to say “Great Robber”, but misspelled it as “Grateful Robber”. Mirei made him notice this mistake and told him to be careful in the coming exams, much to his embarrassment.

Hatoko’s Outburst[]

V2 154

You're Guiltia Sin Jurai

Some days later, Jurai was told by his sister that their mother was going to be out the next day, so one of them had to make dinner. Jurai didn’t want to do it, so Machi told him to ask Hatoko. Next day, Jurai asked Hatoko and she agreed happily. During club activities, they had to write short stories. Everyone was able to write one, except Tomoyo. Jurai noticed she had a problem, so he asked Hatoko to leave first and decided to stay at school to talk with Tomoyo about her writing. It turned out that Tomoyo couldn't write something she was satisfied with in just one hour. Then, she asked Jurai to help her with some details about her novel. When Jurai arrived home, he saw Hatoko at the kitchen. She asked what took him so long, so he said he was talking with Tomoyo, but didn’t go into details. Then, he started texting Tomoyo, so Hatoko asked what they were talking about. However, Jurai said she wouldn’t understand it. At that moment, Hatoko reached her limit and snapped at him, going on a rant about how she just couldn't understand his chūnibyo behavior. Once she was done, Hatoko left, leaving Jurai speechless. Then, Machi got down the stairs and told Jurai to go after Hatoko. He did, but she wasn’t around anymore. Jurai called her phone, but he got surprised when he heard Shizumu Sagami’s voice. (In the anime, they met on the street). He said he had bumped into Hatoko some minutes ago and she had dropped her phone. Shizumu asked what was wrong, so Jurai told him what happened. Shizumu deduced Hatoko’s stress had finally reached its limit after dealing with Jurai so long and if Jurai had thought they got along was only thanks to Hatoko’s efforts. Jurai felt terrible and continued looking for her. Sayumi and Tomoyo met with him and found out what happened. Jurai believed that he might have been putting so much stress on her the entire time and she probably didn’t even enjoy being with him, but Tomoyo slapped some sense into Jurai and told him Hatoko was always happy at his side. Tomoyo told Jurai to get a hold of himself and called him “Guiltia Sin Jurai”. Therefore, he stood up with a smile and extended his right hand.

Jurai suggested using his secret ability, “Dark and Dark of the End”. It was a dangerous ability, but Jurai thought if he was close to dying, he could probably awake a new ability that allows them to find Hatoko. However, Sayumi and Tomoyo didn’t let him. Sayumi decided it was better for her to be the one to awake a new ability. At school, Sayumi used her new power, “Root of Origin: Ouroboros Circle”, to return the literature club back to its original state, teleporting Hatoko back to their side safely. When she woke up, Jurai apologized to her, but Hatoko said she was the one who should apologize. Tomoyo apologized to Hatoko and explained that Jurai was spending time with her because he was giving her advice for her novel. Jurai said that even though he could say things she didn’t understand, he still wanted Hatoko to be at his side. Then, he immediately changed to his chūni tone and offered his hand to Hatoko to follow him on his journey. Hatoko accepted and took Jurai’s hand, mentioning it was warm. The two childhood friends had finally made amends.

Next day, at the school’s rooftop, Shizumu gave Hatoko’s phone back to Jurai. He asked if Jurai was angry for what he told him yesterday, but Jurai said he wasn’t. After all, he knew Shizumu was that kind of person. On his way back to the classroom, he checked Hatoko’s phone and found out Shizumu had set a porn image as Hatoko’s wallpaper as a prank. He immediately went back to the rooftop to accuse him of this. However, Shizumu only said it was a shame Jurai had seen it before Hatoko. Then, they talked about Hajime Kiryū. Shizumu had lied about hearing about him from Tomoyo and wanted to know what kind of person he was. Jurai only said he was an amazing person who had the same chūni tastes as him. Jurai hadn’t seen him again since their first meeting and even though he wanted to see him again, Jurai didn’t want his contact info. The reason was that he wanted their next meeting to be decided by fate.

Helping Chifuyu and Madoka[]

Days later, Jurai found Chifuyu outside his school. She stated she had quit primary school. Jurai carried Chifuyu on his back to her school. There, he met Madoka Kuki, Chifuyu’s best friend. Jurai was impressed by how cool her name was. After leaving Chifuyu in care of the reliable Madoka, Jurai returned to his school. On his way back, Jurai realized he never asked the reason why Chifuyu wanted to quit school.

During the club activities, the literature club had tennis matches with their abilities for fun. Jurai faced against Tomoyo, but she was so bad at sports, she couldn’t even return the ball. On the other side, Hatoko and Sayumi were showing their skills in tennis. Jurai mentioned Hatoko was a member of the soft tennis club back in middle school. Next, Jurai faced against Hatoko, but couldn’t even return her fire balls. Once Chifuyu woke up, she faced against Jurai. She wanted to use two rackets, so Jurai decided not to use one. In the end, the match never started because neither of them could make a shot. For last, Jurai faced against Sayumi, who made him run from side to side, until he crumbled out of tiredness.

Next day, Jurai bought himself a guitar and named it “Maria”. He didn’t know how to play it, but he thought he looked cool with a guitar on his back. He risked it in a game against Chifuyu, who used her power to create a duplicate. Jurai needed to smash the fake one to win the game, but he ended up smashing both of them because he thought both of them were copies. However, he was wrong and ended up breaking the real one as well. Jurai was mortified by this, but Sayumi ended up fixing it. In the end, Jurai lost interest in the guitar and left it at home.

You're early, Tomoyo

Another day, the literature club used Chifuyu's "World Create" ability to dress up in various cosplay outfits. They wrote their choices in papers and put them in a box. Each of them took a paper and did the cosplay written on it. Hatoko wore a sun costume, while Sayumi wore bloomers, Tomoyo wore a bikini armor and Chifuyu wore a straightjacket. Chifuyu wanted to take a commemorative photo, but Tomoyo and Sayumi were totally against this. (In the anime, they did take the photo). At that moment, someone knocked at the door, so Chifuyu deactivated her power and everyone’s attires disappeared. Jurai ended up seeing everyone in their underwear. Tomoyo quickly used her power to put on clothes and covered Jurai’s eyes with his jacket. Once everyone put on clothes, they opened the door. It was their club advisor, Shiharu Satomi, who informed them about Chifuyu skipping school. After Satomi-sensei left, Chifuyu left through a portal.

So long, Jurai

A few days later, Jurai saw Tomoyo looking at her phone with a happy face. He asked her why she looked so happy, so Tomoyo told him she had passed the first round of the light novel contest. Then, Jurai invited her to lunch on the weekend to celebrate. That day, Tomoyo was impressed by Jurai’s outfit. She feared he would put on some chūni clothes, but Jurai said his clothes were picked up by her older sister since he was forbidden from buying his own clothes. They went to café and ordered some cakes. They pretended to be a couple to get the discount price for couples. Then, they went to a library to read some manga and novels. Later, when they went to a vending machine for some drinks, Tomoyo and Jurai met an old acquaintance of his. A girl named Tamaki. Jurai, who was frozen upon meeting her, asked her when she had returned, so Tamaki told him she was only staying at her grandparents' house for a few days. Jurai introduced her to Tomoyo as an old acquaintance from middle school and although they talked normally, Tomoyo was able to notice that in contrast to Tamaki's cheerful attitude, Jurai was somewhat tense.

After talking for some minutes, Tamaki excused herself, saying she needed to go back. Seeing Jurai so nervous, she told him that she wasn't angry with him or Shizumu anymore, but before leaving, she added that things once broken, could never be repaired. After she left, Tomoyo inquired him about her, but Jurai just told her that Tamaki was Shizumu's ex-girlfriend from middle school, but didn't mention the circumstances behind it.

Later, Jurai went to his house and took his clothes off, ready to watch a movie in order to forget about Tamaki. Then, he found Chifuyu inside his room. She had gotten into a fight with her friend, Madoka Kuki, who told her not to hang out with the literature club anymore. Jurai said he would help her, so Chifuyu opened a portal to her house right under him. In Chifuyu’s room, he met Madoka, who got scared to death because he was still in his boxers. She yelled at him to go away and stay away from Chifuyu. Out of the room, Chifuyu asked how it went, but Jurai said he probably had made things worse.

At school, the literature club decided to invite Madoka to show her they weren´t a bad influence on Chifuyu. However, their attempt failed. Madoka was even more convinced Chifuyu didn’t belong with them, but Chifuyu didn’t agree and said she had a reason to be with them. Madoka asked the reason, but Chifuyu kept quiet. Due to Chifuyu being unable to tell Madoka about her powers, this lead Madoka to believe Chifuyu liked the literature club more than her. Madoka left, leaving Chifuyu in silence. Next day, Jurai went to talk with Satomi-sensei. He found out Chifuyu was so depressed she even forgot Lissun at home. Later, Chifuyu went to the club, looking really down. She wondered if she could never be friends with Madoka again, but Hatoko consoled her and said she could. Then, Jurai proclaimed himself as Chifuyu’s knight, so she asked him to help Madoka and her to be friends again.

Madoka and Chifuyu

After school, Jurai went to meet Madoka. She was wary of him, but Jurai managed to convince her to talk. Jurai explained that Chifuyu was a great friend for the literature club. He didn’t want Chifuyu and Madoka to end up like Shizumu and him, that’s why he wanted to help them to make up. However, Madoka couldn’t accept that Chifuyu kept a secret from her. As a last resort, Jurai said their secret was that he was a lolicon. Jurai said he was only interested in little girls, much to Madoka’s shock. However, Chifuyu didn’t reject him and accepted him as a friend. Madoka called him a pervert and said the secret was more hopeless than she expected. At that moment, Chifuyu appeared and made up with Madoka by giving her a bear plushie she won at the arcade with Satomi-sensei’s help. Jurai was glad seeing both of them being friends again.

Next day, Tomoyo teased him calling him “Lolicon Knight”. Chifuyu was happy because she was friends with Madoka again. She revealed that her wanting to quit primary school was from a desire to skip grades and enter high school alongside the others. However, Chifuyu mentioned she would catch up with Jurai in four years anyway. He didn’t understand, but the others realized it quickly. In four years, Chifuyu’ll be in eight grade (chūni). Then, she would be the same as him because Jurai was going to be a chūni forever. Jurai just laughed and said Guiltia Sin Jurai would be waiting for her in the chūni throne.

Jurai’s Birthday and Sayumi’s Dilemma[]

Summer break was near, so the literature club was cleaning the classroom. While checking some papers, Sayumi found Jurai’s literature club entrance application and made fun of him. Tomoyo laughed at Jurai’s answers, much to Jurai’s embarrassment. Back then, when Jurai first entered the classroom and talked in his chūni tone, Sayumi rejected him immediately. It was thanks to Hatoko’s intervention and him apologizing that Sayumi gave him a second chance.

Meeting Maiya Takanashi

A certain day in July, it was Jurai’s seventeen birthday and the literature club girls made a personalized rpg game for him. It was a hard game and took Jurai many tries to complete it. With tears in his eyes, Jurai thanked everyone for the great experience. Next day, Sayumi was absent because she had overworked herself finishing the game and had caught a cold as a result, so the literature club decided to send Jurai to pay her a visit. After school, Jurai was walking alongside Shizumu because he lived in the same direction. Shizumu was jealous because Jurai had received a game as a birthday gift, while he never received things he liked from his girlfriends. At that moment, Shizumu said Tamaki was the only one who knew about his preferences. Just hearing that name was enough for Jurai to be in silence. However, Shizumu didn’t seem to mind. Before arriving Sayumi’s house, Shizumu took another way, saying he didn’t want to catch Sayumi’s cold.

At Sayumi’s house, Jurai apologized for the troubles his birthday gift had caused, but Sayumi said not to worry about it. Next, Sayumi’s younger sister, Maiya Takanashi, arrived. She was more outgoing than her older sister and teased Sayumi about her relationship with Jurai. Then, she exchanged contact info with Jurai and showed him Sayumi’s middle school graduation album. After Sayumi made Maiya leave, she apologized for her sister’s behavior. Seeing the graduation album, Jurai found out Sayumi was the student council president back in middle school, so he asked the reason why she didn’t join the student council in high school. At that moment, Sayumi’s attitude suddenly changed and asked him to leave because she was sleepy. The next day, Sayumi didn’t go to the club and Jurai was worried about her. Later, he heard from Maiya about how Sayumi had originally wanted to join the student council during high school, so he went to see Mirei. She theorized Sayumi probably had prioritized the literature club over the student council. This lead Jurai to recall an incident that happened some months ago in which Sayumi battled against him. After awakening their powers, she wanted to delete their powers with her ability, but Jurai was against this. The result of that battle showed that Sayumi's power could not erase Jurai's Dark and Dark. Jurai already thought this was highly possible, but he wanted to leave them that hope. Sayumi was scared of their powers, but Jurai told her to use their powers to have fun. Realizing Jurai thought about their powers more than anyone, Sayumi admitted defeat against him.

Their respective's situtations

Jurai thought Sayumi wanted to become the student council president, but had given up because of him. He thought she was mad because he had asked something insensitive. After school, he went to Sayumi’s house, but she wasn’t there. When Sayumi arrived, he apologized. However, Sayumi told him that he had misunderstood something. Then, the two of them went to the park to talk. Sayumi explained she wasn’t mad at him. Her change in attitude the previous day was because she indeed was sleepy due to her medication and she didn’t go to the club today because she went to the ophthalmologist to buy new contact lens. Also, Sayumi mentioned she had not regrets about not becoming the student council president. After all, she only wanted to become one to clear away her failure in middle school and for her own self-satisfaction. Sayumi felt she had failed to become a proper person, but even though she couldn’t become one, she still wanted to try. Jurai said she was amazing and that if he was a girl, he would have fallen for her. Sayumi said that he should be careful with his words. After this, Jurai went back to school to pick up his bag.

Summer Break and a Destined Meeting[]

In summer break, following Shizumu’s advice, Sayumi went to Jurai’s house and asked him to tell her the story about how Shizumu and him had met. Jurai was surprised by this request, but agreed to tell her the story about a certain incident that happened in his second year at middle school. Jurai told her how he met Tamaki and Shizumu, how they had fun together and how he got hurt by getting involved in their messy break-up. (This event was omitted in the anime).

One day, Jurai, Chifuyu and Madoka went to the pool. Madoka tried to plot a plan to get Chifuyu to hate Jurai because she thought he was just a lolicon. She tried to get Jurai look bad in front of them. However, Jurai overcame her expectations each time, leaving Madoka to become impressed by him as well. Then, Jurai and the little girls entered a quiz contest. The first prize was a car, but Chifuyu wasn’t interested in that. She wanted the whale plushie. In the end, they managed to win thanks to Jurai, impressing both Chifuyu and Madoka. Much to everyone’s surprise, Jurai only asked for the whale plush, so Madoka asked if he was alright with that. Jurai just told them the best prize was their smiles. When they were preparing to leave, Chifuyu gave the whale plushie to Jurai as a thanks for helping her get her squirrel plushie, Lissun. Jurai realized Chifuyu was that little girl he met at the arcade three years ago. (In the anime, this last scene was omitted).

Watching the stars together

Days later, the Kushikawa family and the Andō family went to the beach for their annual vacation trip. Hatoko had read some magazines and followed the charm techniques depicted to attract Jurai’s attention, but in the end, she succumbed to heatstroke. At night, she and Jurai sit on the beach and were watching the stars. They talked about the meaning of being someone’s chosen one. Jurai told her that the most important was the feeling of wanting to be chosen. Hatoko agreed with this and rested her head on Jurai’s shoulder. Then, Hatoko called him “Jurai” instead of “Ju-kun”, which surprised him. An embarrassed Jurai told her he preferred being called as always, so Hatoko called him "Ju-kun" again. (In the anime, Hatoko didn’t rest her head on Jurai’s shoulder).

Upon his return, Jurai and Sayumi went to the same pool Chifuyu and him went last week. Unbeknown to Jurai, Shizumu had given her a swimsuit that would allegedly become see-through if she got wet. Sayumi didn’t know it until she had it on, so she tried her best to stay out of water. In the end, she got splashed by water, but it turned out to be a normal swimsuit. In their way back home, Sayumi told Jurai to ask Tomoyo about a certain novel she had written long ago. (In the anime, this conversation was omitted).

So long, Endless Paradox

One rainy day, Jurai couldn’t go to the pool with Tomoyo, so he invited her to a summer festival at night. After having some fun in the shooting stand and eating some food, Tomoyo said she hadn’t passed the second round of the light novel contest. Jurai thanked her for telling him this. Then, Jurai remembered Sayumi asked him to ask Tomoyo about a certain novel. She was surprised Sayumi talked about that novel, so she decided to tell Jurai about it. It was the story of a magician girl who wanted to catch up with her brother. He was her master and also her goal. That girl’s name was “Endless Paradox” and her special attack was “Climax Blade White”.

Jurai remembered that nickname and realized Tomoyo was that silver haired girl he met three years ago. Jurai asked her why she didn’t tell him, but Tomoyo said that she had already graduated from chūnibyo. With the fireworks in the sky, Jurai told Tomoyo his name was “Guiltia Sin Jurai”. He had finally fulfilled the promise to come up with a name. Both of them were smiling. Jurai was glad he had found that mysterious silver haired girl again and thanked Tomoyo for giving him the best summer festival. Then, Jurai and Tomoyo watched the fireworks while holding hands. (In the anime, this revelation was omitted and they didn’t hold hands).

Anime Original Arc[]

One night, Mirei Kudō was visited by Naoe Hagiura, an ex-member of the organization F. She controlled Mirei and used her body to attack the literature club. She stole Hatoko’s power and used it against her. Chifuyu protected Hatoko, but had her power stolen as well. With Tomoyo’s help, the group managed to escape and regrouped at a karaoke box. They deduced that Mirei was being controlled by someone. Jurai went to confront the possessed Mirei alone and tricked her into stealing his power, Dark and Dark of the End, forcing Naoe to leave Mirei’s body. Both Jurai and Mirei had their arms cut by a guillotine, so they could get rid of the inextinguishable black flames. Tomoyo, Hatoko, Sayumi and Chifuyu were relieved when everything ended. (These events are not part of the novel storyline)

The Cultural Festival[]

The Cultural Festival was near and the literature club decided to do a play, Romeo and Juliet. Hatoko and the rest of the girls wanted to play Juliet, so they let Jurai, who was going to play Romeo, choose his Juliet. In the end, Jurai chose Chifuyu because he didn’t want to choose between Tomoyo, Hatoko and Sayumi.

Next day, Jurai was talking with Shizumu. He said his birthday was coming and he was looking forward to Jurai’s present, but Jurai didn’t want to give him one. Shizumu remembered the film frame Jurai gave him three years ago as a present, but Jurai mentioned it wasn’t his, it was Tamaki’s. Due to remembering what happened three years ago, Jurai felt an old wound was reopening. Shizumu said that he had already sold that film frame because he needed money. Jurai was surprised and angry at this. However, that was the usual Shizumu, so there was no point in getting angry with him. Next, he talked Shizumu about him choosing Chifuyu as Juliet because he didn’t want the other girls to feel bad. Shizumu said that way of thinking was so Jurai-like.

Jurai's first kiss is taken

After informing Mirei about the literature club’s play, Jurai and the others started practicing. Jurai and Chifuyu were Romeo and Juliet. Hatoko was Rosaline. Sayumi was the narrator and Tomoyo was in charge of adapting the script and also would play Friar Laurence. During one of the practices, Jurai asked Hatoko why she had chosen to play Rosaline. Hatoko answered that she wanted to be Juliet, but since Chifuyu was going to play that role, she chose Rosaline because she wanted to be a character loved by him. Their faces got reddened, so an embarrassed Hatoko quickly said that she was talking about Romeo, not Jurai.

The day before the festival, Chifuyu’s found out Jurai’s reason for choosing her and left depressed. Jurai went to her house and managed to apologize to Chifuyu. Jurai said he would be waiting for her tomorrow. The big day came, but Chifuyu still hadn’t showed up. Jurai and the other girls believed she would come. In the end, Chifuyu came and the group was able to do the play successfully. In the final act, Chifuyu kissed Jurai for real, surprising him and the other girls. It was his first kiss after all. After the play, the other girls were seeing Jurai with cold eyes. Also, in the poster outside, the title had been changed with a marker, from “Romeo and Juliet” to “Lolio and Juliet”. Jurai had no proof, but he suspected it was Shizumu’s work.

While the other girls were busy, Jurai and Chifuyu were resting in a classroom. She was resting in his lap, so Jurai reminded her they had another show later and she couldn’t fall asleep. However, next time, she couldn’t kiss him for real. She asked if it was because she was a child, but Jurai denied it and said kissing in public was embarrassing. Chifuyu asked if he heated being called a lolicon, but Jurai denied it. Jurai said he wasn’t one because a lolicon was a person who was interested only in little girls, but lost said interest when the girl grew up. Jurai wasn’t like that. Even if fell in love with a little girl, he would love the girl even she grew up.

A happy Chifuyu asked Jurai to hug her, so he did. Chifuyu mentioned she felt warm, so Jurai thought he was hugging her too strong. However, she said it wasn’t her body which was warm. Jurai didn’t understand. The two of them stayed like that for the time being. Jurai thought they looked like siblings or even lovers.

Root of Origin’s Incident[]

After the Cultural Festival, the literature club invited Mirei Kudō to have fun in a tropical beach created by Chifuyu’s power. Hatoko tagged along with Jurai to play beach volleyball against Sayumi and Mirei, who had stolen Tomoyo and Chifuyu’s powers. They were formidable opponents. However, by combining their powers, Jurai and Hatoko managed to take the lead. Then, Mirei eventually stole Hatoko’s power. With Tomoyo, Chifuyu and Hatoko’s powers, Mirei laughed and thought she could finally have her revenge against Sayumi, but she immediately used her power, Root of Origin, to restore everyone’s powers. Then, Sayumi went after Mirei and quickly subdued her with a submission hold. Jurai, Hatoko and Tomoyo thought it looked more like they were playing instead of fighting. They were happy to see Mirei and Sayumi having fun, after all, this was their last year of high school.

Ino 10 273

Andō-kun, I lo.....

The next day, Sayumi’s power, Root of Origin, went out of control and changed the world. As a result, Hatoko became a yandere, Tomoyo returned to her Endless Paradox persona, Chifuyu grew up and became a high schooler, Shizumu became a girl and Mirei became a lovestruck girl again. Hatoko, Tomoyo, Mirei and Chifuyu didn’t notice the change and were acting like they were always like that. Only Jurai and Sayumi noticed the change. Shizumu also noticed the change, but he wasn’t bothered by his new body. Jurai was trying to find the cause of this mess, but to not avail.

Actually, this whole incident was caused by Sayumi. After watching Chifuyu kissing Jurai at the festival cultural, Sayumi got nervous and was planning to confess to Jurai, but got scared at the last moment and wished for everything to return to normal. “Root of Origin” got confused and changed everyone to their supposed normal forms. Having decided to put an end to this incident, Sayumi decided to confess and return everything to normal. She asked Jurai to meet her behind the gym. However, when she was about to confess, they heard a voice mocking this kind of cliché outcome. At that moment, everything went blank. Root of Origin’s effects were nullified and everyone returned to normal. When Jurai woke up, he was by the riverside. To his surprise, Tamaki appeared in front of him. She revealed herself as a member of Fallen Black and her ability was called Lost Regalia. Then, Tamaki challenged Jurai to a battle.

Dark and Dark vs Lost Regalia[]

Tamaki had locked Jurai up in a closed city created by Yanagi Akutagawa’s power. There, she began to attack Jurai, who only could run because of Lost Regalia and Dead Space's powers limiting his movements. He couldn't pick any kind of weapon because they disintegrated at contact and he couldn't attack her physically either. Also, due to Tamaki asking Aki Natsu to observe Jurai and analyze his power beforehand, she knew everything about Jurai's power, including the details about “Dark and Dark of the End”. Using her power, Lost Regalia, Tamaki blocked Jurai from activating his power and kept attacking him using wind attacks provided by Yanagi's power.

Ino 11 209

Tamaki vs Jurai

When Tamaki finally cornered Jurai, she showed a metal bat and said she would make it quick. Jurai asked her why she was taking her revenge on him, instead of Shizumu. She didn't want to answer, but Jurai said it was probably because she was afraid of facing Shizumu again. He no longer cared about her and couldn't care less about her revenge. For that reason, she chose Jurai, because, unlike Shizumu, she could hurt him emotionally. Tamaki just laughed at this and said Jurai was right. Tamaki and Jurai began talking about the cheating incident from three years ago. Tamaki angrily shouted that she tried her best to be Shizumu's ideal girlfriend and it wasn't fair to blame her for one mistake. She criticized the fact that Shizumu was doing the same, but in the end, he wasn't blamed for anything.

Tamaki tried to kill Jurai with the metal bat, but he strongly embraced her and quickly sent a message to Chifuyu. He instructed her to open a portal right under them which led to the dimension where Jurai's burning arm was sealed. Jurai told Tamaki that they would fall together into a blazing hell. Tamaki tried to escape, but to no avail. When they were falling, Tamaki began to cry for Shizumu's help. Jurai noted that if she had done that since the beginning, maybe she, Sagami and him could have had a different ending. Tamaki had lost consciousness due to the shock.

When Shizumu arrived, he noticed Jurai had defeated Tamaki. Jurai revealed that the hole he had asked Chifuyu to open didn’t lead to a blazing hell, but to a pool of plushies. Jurai thought it was strange for Shizumu to come in his help, but Shizumu just said many things had happened. Then, Tamaki woke up and freaked out when she saw Shizumu. She couldn't say a word and wasn't able to look at him in the eye. Sagami approached her and said he was not going to apologize. However, even though he was not going to apologize, he was going to thank her. Shizumu thanked Tamaki for liking him, for going out with him, for doing so many things for him and for trying to love him. Shizumu said he was really happy with her. However, they needed to change and let the past go. Tamaki began to cry and apologized for everything, bowing her head deeply to Jurai. With that, the three friends finally made amends.

After that, a black hole devoured Tamaki completely. Jurai freaked out, but Shizumu told him Tamaki was going to be revived soon. Then, Hajime Kiryū appeared and declared the Fairy War was advancing to the final stage. However, in order to stop this, Shizumu declared he was joining the fairy war and awoke his power, Innocent Onlooker. Then, Shizumu challenged Hajime to a battle to protect his friend.

The End of the Fairy War[]

Shizumu Sagami used his power, Innocent Onlooker, to show Hajime a vision of the future. However, Jurai was also in the range of effect and saw four possible futures. In each future, he was dating a different girl of the literature club. Each future was possible and none of them was absolute. Jurai could hear Shizumu’s voice in his head explaining these future visions. Shizumu was using his power to do something similar to telepathy. At that moment, Hajime smashed Shizumu to the ground in an instant, breaking some of his ribs in the process. Hajime had lost his cool and Shizumu tried to make Hajime focus on him by mocking him, so Jurai could escape, but he had already been immobilized by Hajime’s power.

When Hajime was about to have Shizumu be devoured by a bottomless dark hole, Hitomi Saitō appeared and saved him. Then, Shugo Toki quickly attacked Hajime. Hitomi lent a shoulder to Shizumu and introduced herself to Jurai, telling him she already knew about him. She said that she considered Jurai as her love rival, much to Jurai’s confusion. Then, Shizumu told Jurai to leave Hajime to them. Right now, he should go and protect the literature club girls. Before leaving, Jurai and Shizumu recognized each other as friends again, just like back in middle school.

After Jurai left, Shizumu’s voice kept him informed about the battle. Also, he told Jurai about the fairy war, the fairies, the superpowers and Hajime. Unfortunately, Fallen Black was defeated by Hajime. Before disappearing, Shizumu’s voice asked him to save Hajime. Jurai had sent a message to the girls to meet him at a karaoke box. Once everyone was there, he explained the situation, but none believed him. Therefore, he summoned the fairy, Reatier, so she could prove his story. The girls were shocked, but had no choice but to believe Jurai’s words after seeing a non-human being right in front of them. Hajime had defeated Fallen Black and was coming for them now. It was impossible for them to win. Jurai wanted to talk about their future course of actions, but the girls didn’t want to fight Hajime because they didn’t have a reason to do so. Then, Jurai noticed there was no sound around, so Reatier explained that Hajime had stopped the time of the world.

At that moment, Hajime appeared out of nowhere, berating Reatier for ruining his surprise entrance. He wanted to face Jurai and the rest of the literature club, but they declined because they didn’t have a reason to fight. Jurai felt he had disappointed Hajime. However, he had to think about the girls, not only himself. Then, Hajime revealed they had all the reasons in the world to fight him, because he was controlling their lives. Hajime had manipulated Jurai and the other girls with his secret ability, Reverse Cross Record Errata. That power allowed Hajime to manipulate memories and change reality. The fact that they met each other, everything they had experienced so far in the literature club, their feelings, all of their conversations, the romantic comedy they had been living until now. Everything was just a fictional story created by an author named Hajime Kiryū. Everyone was shocked about this. Before leaving, Hajime told them to meet him at school at midnight.

After Hajime left, everyone was in silence and the mood of the room was heavy. None could believe what Hajime had told them. However, Hatoko and Sayumi made Jurai notice that Hajime’s words were lies and his story was full of holes. It was impossible for them to be fictional characters created by him. The other girls felt the same. They couldn’t prove Hajime’s story was lie, but they couldn’t prove it was true either. But most of all, they definitely didn’t want to believe their feelings were fictional. Jurai decided to believe that story was a lie as well. Thinking about Hajime’s reason for saying such a lie, Jurai finally understood what was in Hajime’s mind. Jurai wanted to deal with Hajime alone, so he asked Sayumi, Chifuyu and Hatoko to retire from the war. He only let Tomoyo tag along because she was Hajime’s sister and had the right to be there.

The Final Battle[]

At midnight, Jurai and Tomoyo went to face Hajime at Senkō Private High School. Hajime tried to keep his conceited attitude, but Jurai told him to drop the charade. Jurai revealed the truth. Hajime had lied when he told them Jurai and the others were only fictional characters following the script he had written. Hajime only wanted to give them a reason to fight, so he made up that silly story. And he did it because he was desperate. The story of the Fifth Fairy War he had created was out of his control. Hajime had tried to add interesting plots here and there, but in the end, he didn’t know how to resolve those plotlines. Hajime was just a chūni author writing whatever he wanted, without worrying about how the story would end.

Hajime laughed and said Jurai was right. Hajime took off his sunglasses and his red lens, muttering he was desperate because the story was not going as he had planned. The original ending that Hajime had planned was the battle between the literature club and Fallen Black, mainly the battle between him and Tomoyo. However, because Shizumu deduced this ending perfectly, Hajime became desperate and tried to change his story in a hurry. And that’s when Fallen Black betrayed him and to make things worse, the literature club didn’t want to fight him. That's why, in order to give them a reason to fight against him, Hajime lied and said they were all his creations. However, now that he thought about it, Hajime believed his real mistake was meeting Jurai, because after he met him, Hajime tried to make the story more interesting by involving Jurai as a new character. He changed Tomoyo for Jurai as the final boss and thought about having a final battle against him instead. However, there was no way to do that because “Dark and Dark” was a really weak power. Jurai apologized, but Hajime told him that he should be the one apologizing because he couldn’t fulfill Jurai’s expectations.

Then, Hajime asked Jurai if he had seen the future with Shizumu's power. Hajime told them that the horrible future he saw was a 40 years old version of himself, with gray hair, doing poses and saying cool lines. Hajime was upset, because when he saw that, he felt that what he was doing was just child’s play. Inside his heart, Hajime knew that Kiryū Heldkaiser Luci-First didn’t exist and that he only was Hajime Kiryū. The chūnibyō inside him was fading, but Hajime didn’t want to let go of it. That's why, when Reatier offered him to participate in the Fairy War, Hajime felt he had found what he was looking for. When he won the Fourth Fairy War, his wish was to continue the war, because he felt that ending the war was the same as ending his chūnibyō. But in the end, it was all for nothing. The more he wished not to change, the more his chūnibyō faded. That’s why, if everything really had to end, Hajime wanted to finish it in a grand way. However, his story, the Fifth Fairy War, had ended in such deplorable state.

Jurai sympathized with Hajime, but Tomoyo didn’t. She told him he was acting like a child who didn’t want grow up. She wasn’t going to feel sorry for him, after all, everyone must grow up at some point. Tomoyo said that Hajime saw leaving his chūnibyō behind as killing himself. However, no matter how much he changed, his chūnibyō wouldn’t go away. It would always be part of him. Everyone had to become adults someday. Hajime wondered if he was really allowed to become an adult after everything he did. He involved everyone in a war, he did whatever he wanted and he couldn’t end the story. Tomoyo said that it would be the best to apologize to everyone, but because they all had lost their memories, it didn’t matter anymore. And as for the unfinished story, she thought it couldn’t be helped. Hajime did everything he could, so there was no problem in leaving the story like that.

Tomoyo said that she was already sleepy and approached her brother. Tomoyo offered her hand to Hajime and told him they should go home because their parents were worried. And if Hajime didn’t know what he wanted to be in the future, then he could take his time thinking about it at home. Hajime accepted and took her hand. However, remembering what Shizumu had asked him to do, Jurai decided to offer his help to Hajime to finish the story in a more proper way. If they were going to leave their chūnibyō behind, then they would do so with a grand finale. Hajime started laughing and put on his red lens again. Acting again as Kiryū Heldkaiser Luci-First, he accepted Guiltia Sin Jurai's proposal. With this, the Fifth Fairy War had ended. Jurai, Tomoyo and Hajime lost their powers, but kept their memories.

Epilogue[]

Around 6 months later, Jurai was in his third year of high school alongside Tomoyo, Hatoko and Shizumu. Sayumi and Mirei had graduated and had entered college. One day, Jurai and Shizumu were coming back from school. They talked about the outcome of the Fairy War. Jurai and Hajime had rewritten the whole ending. The Fairy War had ended with a big battle between the literature club and Fallen Black, in which both of them burned out their powers completely and ended using only their fists. Or at least that’s what everyone believed. However, Shizumu had his doubts. Then, they talked about Hajime. He had returned to college and had started dating Hitomi. After saying their goodbyes, Jurai asked Shizumu to send his regards to Shizumu’s mother, who had awakened from coma. Then, Jurai went to see his girlfriend in a nearby park.

The Chosen Girl[]

Powers and Abilities[]

Dark and Dark[]

Andō's right hand has a special power, which is a black blaze that is "darkness" itself. It is not actually hot (described as lukewarm), not able to burn anything and is not very reliable.[8]

Dark and Dark of the End/Inferno Gate: Maximum[]

This is the secondary stage of Dark and Dark.[9] This version of his superpower, which is hot unlike the first stage (which was described as 'lukewarm'). This burns everything, including the user and it can't be put out by anything. The only known way to stop it has shown to be through amputation.[10]

Trivia[]

  • The person that spends the most time with Andō is Hatoko Kushikawa.
  • He is quite bad at cooking.
  • He is not allowed to buy his own clothing, ms semi-delusional personality.
  • In terms of personality, Andō is very similar to Togashi Yūta from Love, Chūnibyō, and Other Delusions. Both had Chūnibyō in some point of their lives, and their personas involved manipulating a dark flame. On a side note, both have eyes of green shade.
  • On his light novel character profile, Andō's blood type is revealed as "King Type" ((おう)(がた), Ō-gata) which is crossed off and replacing for "O Type" ((オー)(がた) Ō-gata) as "King Type" is not a real blood type. This is pun on Japanese word for "King" and English letter "O" as they sound the same in Japanese.[11]
  • On the light novels, Andō sometimes mentions some events that took place in the anime series which were not present in the light novel series, breaking the fourth wall in the process.
